Theaters, performance venues, and event facilities are among the most coordination-heavy buildings there are. Room acoustics, theatrical rigging, stage lighting and AV, sightlines, and life-safety for large gatherings all converge in one structure.
Bihn Construction manages that complexity across the architectural, structural, and specialty systems at once, working alongside the theatrical and acoustic consultants. We build box-in-box isolation and resilient mounts and hold mechanical noise and vibration to the room's acoustic targets; carry the structural loads a fly system, grid, and motorized rigging impose; and sequence long-lead theatrical rigging, seating, drapery, and acoustic panels against the building trades so nothing strands the finish. Assembly-occupancy life-safety is designed in from the start: egress and occupant load, panic hardware, emergency lighting, and, over the stage, a proscenium fire curtain with smoke vents and smoke control for the large volume.
We protect the specialty finishes seen under stage and gallery lighting, then integrate, test, and commission the systems with their consultants, so the venue is built to perform, technically and architecturally, and ready to hold an audience.
